DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

Ok, this item in my January Allure Beauty Box really needed no sampling from me - it's long been one of my favorite products in my bathroom!

I first discovered it as a sample item in a DHC catalog - I highly support DHC's policy to include samples in every catalog, so you can try products before committing to spend money on them. I'll admit that it took a long time for me to get around to trying it, because I looked at it and thought, "Ew! Put oil on my face? Um, no!"

Wrong.

I also was one of those people who thought that if it doesn't lather, it doesn't clean.

Wrong again.

You apply this product with dry hands on a dry face then rinse off. It dissolves all the make-up, rinses clean, and just leaves your skin feeling fresh and clean without the slightest trace of residue. The real test was when I swiped a cotton ball of toner across my cheek after using this, and it came away clean. No scrubbing. Just massage on with your fingertips and rinse, and it was actually completely clean! Amazing!

The full-size bottle might seem a little pricey, but it's worth it, and you can often catch it on sale. It also lasts a really long time, because it only takes one squirt from the pump to thoroughly clean your whole face.

Grade: A+ (seriously, there is NO room for improvement here - it couldn't get any better!)

What the Allure editors had to say:

What it is: A gentle, oil-based facial cleanser for normal to dry skin

What it does: When massage in, the water-soluble formula binds to dirt and dissolves makeup - even waterproof mascara - without stripping skin or leaving behind a greasy sheen.

How it looks/feels/smells: The frangrance-free cleanser is satisfyingly slippery and transforms into a cloudy white fluid as you rinse.

Key ingredient: Olive oil (moisturizes and cleanses)

Why we like it: Rubbing a handful of oil all over your face sounds liek the ideal way to get a gigantic breakout, but this oil-based cleanser couldn't be3 more different than the kind of oil you put on your salad. The lightweight yet hydrating formula emulsifies in water to deep-clean skin, and unlike otehr oil cleansers that can leave behind traces of residue, this one rinses off completely. Just make sure your hand and face are totally dry before massaging on a quarter-size drop - the cleanser needs to be in its oil form to bond to teh junk on your skin and wash it away.

Price: $28 for 6.7 ounces
